16th International Communist Seminar successfully held in Brussels
Earlier this month, the 16th annual International Communist Seminar took place in Belgium. This is an important event that brings together many of the most important communist parties and organizations in the world (including some parties that hold state power and many that don't). The seminar aims to unite communists, many of whom have previously been divided, around an ongoing commitment to Marxism-Leninism and proletarian internationalism. A basic statement of the politics that guide the seminar are in the declaration from the 1999 seminar.
This year's seminar focused on the theme of "The validity and current relevance of the October Revolution of 1917 for the 21st century". The documents from this year's seminar are now available online here.
These include the communique from the seminar, the list of participating parties and organizations (as well as organizations that weren't there but sent solidarity messages or expressed interest but were unable to attend).
The seminar passed the following general resolution: The type of party needed to respond to the challenges of the 21st century. There were also the following resolutions: Resolution of solidarity with Cuba; Resolution in Support of the Filipino People's Struggle against the US-Arroyo Regime's War of Terror; Resolution on Latin America; Resolution on the Middle East; Resolution regarding the May Day Celebrations of 2007 in Turkey - The Fascist Governor must Immediately Resign; and Resolution in support of undocumented workers in the United States.
There are also papers from a number of different participating parties and organizations on the theme of the seminar.
